Is there meaningful suffering? Was the question that Bernhard Thiessen asked in the church service on January 13, 2019. We are rightfully happy that thanks to the palliative care no one has to suffer anymore. There are many remedies for the treatment of pain that make illness easier, even dying. Visit to Ukraine
  It is now more than four years ago that separatists supported by Russia occupied the area around Donetsk in Ukraine and that Russia annexed Crimea itself. There were truces that were broken and new ones were agreed. There is now a front line that is more or less stable. There are more than 2 million refugees, “internally displaced people”.
From the end of the 18th to the mid-20th centuries, Mennonites lived in Ukraine. They were large communities that were often not without means.
With this information in mind, the annual meeting of the presidents of the Mennonite communities in Europe was held at the end of October 2018.

Letters to my son
Sunday 27 januari 2019 the anabaptist church in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands, featured a play called “Letters to my son” written and produced by Annerixt Pijlman.
She is a graduate from the theatre academy in Maastricht and currently teaches dramatic expressions at the Wateringsveld College.

MCC roundtable meeting Oxford, November 2018

In November around twenty people from different European countries met in Oxford, UK. This meeting was organized by the MCC European representatives, Naomi and Douglas Enns. All participants represented an organisation working on “connecting Mennonites”. Each year a special topic is discussed and this time we discussed the book  “The Moral Imagination: The Art and Soul of Building Peace” writen by John Paul Lederach. Read more >>
